Blackwater Hollow

I finally remembered to stitch something for the Frolic! Blackwater Hollow Sampler by Stacy Nash, a longtime WIP of mine..
I'm almost at the halfway point on this.

Happy Halloween to you all!

More Christmas Mice....

The title gives you a rather big clue what I stitched on last night.... Christmas Mice!

I decided to get the mice finished this week so Friday night saw me continue to stitch on another of my Margaret Sherry Xmas Mice... Xmas Mouse #3.

Before I started he looked like this:

Designer: Margaret Sherry
And after last night's stitching effort he now looks like this:

Friday Frolics stitching........
My plan is to now get finish off all the backstitching either this afternoon or tonight...

See you next week!  Happy Stitching!

A Friday Finish!!!

Hello fellow FF stitchers!

Sadly I haven't had time to do any Friday Frolics for a few weeks - I just have so many Xmas projects on the go and then I've been unwell for a couple of weeks too. However, today I was determined to find time for some stitching and I actually managed to finish my UFO that I started over ten years ago!

This is where where my Swedish Santa was when I started stitching today...

...and after finishing the sky and adding some missing backstitch...

 ...I finished it!!

It feels pretty good to be able to have a finish that is that long time coming! The chart is from a Swedish magazine from 2003 so it's about time, I'd say!

Hopefully I'll find time to do some more frolicing next Friday:)

FF and Christmas Ornie rolled in to one

I needed to work on my Angel which is a Lavender and Lace Freebie 1991. So I used it for my FF, too. I needed to get the red beads as they gave me gold ones. My LNS is about 40 minutes away. Finally made it there today. Hope to work on it some more this week.

Angelic Friday!

Well hello to another Monday (or at least it is Monday where I am!)

I managed to get some Friday night stitching in this time.... instead of stitching on an old WIP on Friday night I decided to stitch on my October piece for the Christmas Ornie SAL. (This month is rapidly drawing to a close and I haven't done my angel or nativity piece yet!).

I actually started this new design on Thursday evening, so when Friday came around the Angel looked like this:
Before FF stitching
After stitching on Friday night, the Angel looked like this:
After FF stitching
This little angel can be found in a very old Cross Stitch Christmas magazine (1999) - design is called "Joyful Angels Triptych" and is designed by Mona Eno.  I am stitching her on a piece of "Waratah" 32 count fabric from Stitches and Spice.

I continued stitching on her over the weekend, so if you would like to see where she is at now... pop over to my blog for an update!

Hope everyone had a successful Friday night of stitching!

See you next week
Hugs, Noni xx

Horn of Plenty progress

Hi! I was able to stitch this Friday and weekend on my pattern.

Here is my progress:

I was able to finish stitching the 'shadow' area underneath the cornucopia and start on the border.

Here is what the pattern looked like last time I posted.

I hope everyone is having fun with their projects!!

Continuing Frolics with Trixie and Serendipitous Jo

My current Friday Frolic is Trixie the Hallowe'en Witch from Brooke's Books.  I had an issue with the metallic black DMC last week.  It just didn't cover well at all.  Then I saw the same design on FB where the stitcher had used Kreinik and the coverage looked great.  So this week I used the other two DMC metallics I had planned to discover how they covered.  They both look fine so I only need to buy one spool of Kreinik and some perforated paper for the accessories.  I frogged the black metallic in preparation for next week and here she is:

Stitched on 28 count tan evenweave

Don't her metallic purple boots look great?

Serendipitous Jo's Frolic With Tricky Trixie

I picked up Brooke's Book's Trixie the Hallowe'en Witch for my Friday Frolic and didn't do too well.  I've done all the DMC and now have the Kreinik.  I didn't have any of the charted Kreinik so I took the time to convert them to DMC metallics which I have quite a collection.  The Fuchsia looks great in her eye mask but then I started on the black in her hair.  It just doesn't cover well or look sparkly at all.  So I guess I have to bite the bullet and buy the Kreinik.  I will probably try the other colours first in case I need to order those too.

I'm stitching her on 28 count tan evenweave rather than the perforated paper because money.  But I will stitch the accessories on the paper so they won't be floppy or fray when I cut them out to attach them.  Good compromise.  I have the whole collection of ten witches so the paper can be used for them all over time.

Angel of Grace FF update

Didn't have much time to work on her as I was babysitting this week-end.

Christmas Bluebird

Hello friends,

this time I pulled out one of the projects that I started back in January for Debbie's Ultimate Crazy Challenge. It's a little bird and I left it here.

There were all the leaves that had to be stitched and I thought: No problem that will be done quickly. But it took me nearly the whole weekend. This morning I put in the last of the backstitches and it's done now. And I love it.

Horn of Plenty Progress

Good evening. Here is my progress on my JCS Horn of Plenty pattern:

And here was my 'before' pic:

Next up will be a few more stitches on the main motif and then on to the border.

I doubt I'll have much to show next time. We will have a crazy schedule at work for a while which means I'll be working late with no time for stitching.

It's a shame I can't tell my boss 'Can I leave? I've got stitching to do!'

Yep, I don't think that would go over well!!!

On to Day 12 now for IHSW very excited, nearly there!

I'm behind ...

Hello friends,

I'm behind with everything at the moment but am slowly catching up on things. And befor the next Friday rolls on I want to show my efforts from the last two weekends.

Last Friday I pulled out Composition d'autumne by Perette Samouiloff which I started about a year ago. I have added two more motives. Before it was just the little birdies in the branch

and now it's the leaves and the little bunny that were added.

The weekend before last I pulled out my Houses of Hawk Run Hollow and finished house #5 that I had started a week before. I'm so glad that it's done, you know how it is with houses - they sometimes are very boring to stitch but look gorgeous when done.

I still don't know what I will stitch on next Friday. But I'm looking forward to it.

Brigitte

Justine can't stop frolicking!

Hi everyone

I feel as if I've been quiet on this blog but that means I have some good progress for you. I started frolicking on this one a couple of weeks ago and haven't put it down since!

MS Christmas Mouse

Sorry.... bit late posting my Friday Frolics stitching, but better late than never!

On Friday night I decided to stitch on a small as I was feeling completely cream crackered after a very looonnngg week at work and I didn't want to stitch on something that I needed to think about (and stuff up) and then frog it all out next time I picked it up!!!

So I picked up this cute little Christmas mouse and nearly finished him on Friday... I started this way back in January and he hasn't had much love since then so he was the perfect candidate for a Friday night.

Before FF stitching:
Christmas Mouse
Designer: Margaret Sherry
and after a couple of Friday night wines he looked like this:

And guess what.... I kept on stitching on him on Saturday afternoon and now this little mouse is finished!  Link to my blog post is here if you would like to see him all backstitched and waiting for his friends to be done!

Catch you all next week!

JCS Horn of Plenty

Good evening everyone! I ran across this blog via Brigitte's post on her At Brigitte's Place blog. I have to say that I'm glad I found it as I was in some need of motivation to finish a project that I started in October of 2012. I started it for my aunt, but didn't feel the drive to finish it as it wasn't something I would normally have picked to stitch.

Thank you, Kaye, for allowing me to join your group.

Just the thought of this blog got me stitching on my pattern this afternoon. It is Sharon Pope's Horn of Plenty from the Just Cross Stitch October 2012 issue. The first picture below shows the fabric as it really looks compared to the second picture.

This was my progress from earlier this year after letting it sit in my stitched pieces pile for quite a while. I was able to backstitch a bit on it before putting it to the side to stitch on designs I actually wanted to stitch on.

And here's my progress this afternoon, two leaves and the top of the cornucopia on the right. Not a lot done, but it's a step in the right direction ^___^

I actually can't wait to stitch on it on Friday night. I think I'll need some relaxing stitching time by the end of the work week.

Have a great week everyone!

Rachel

Serendipitous Jo's Ghostly Friday Frolic

My first Friday Frolic was in September when I stitched a Just Nan design called Ghoulies and Ghosties.  This is where I stopped back then:

And here are two photos of the current status:

Fabric looking rather washed out here!

It's actually a 28 count tan evenweave, the top photo is much more realistic.

All I have left is the two ghosties and then some black backstitch and a spider or two.  Plenty of time for Hallowe'en this year.

Angel of Grace

I was able to work on it last night. Almost finished the bodice, DMC 902. Love that color of floss. I have a picture on my new tablet. I was able to post it to Facebook. But I don't have any idea how to get it on here. I watched a You Tube video but the top of her screen above where you write your post was different. So I'm not seeing a pic to click on. Sorry I couldn't post the picture, yet.

Cherry Tea......

Hello Fellow Frolickers,

Sorry for my late FF post this week but I have been so flat out both at work and at home that blogging has just fallen down my list!

Anyway, last Friday, I pulled out Cherry Tea,  which I had last stitched on way back in December, 2013!

Now, I didn't get a super amount done but I did progress....

I just hope that it is not another nearly two years before I pick this piece up again! lol!

Well, I have a big presentation to give to Senior Management at work today, so I had better get myself into gear - wish me luck!

So behind in everything!- A lighthouse!

Oooops! What's going on here!
All of a sudden I see so many blogposts here but I received no notification for any of them. I hope Kaye will see why this happened. In fact I thought no one had posted anything and didn't even bother to visit the blog!
Anyway I love all of Kaye's SALs and everything and was so happy to join in but there were things to do at home after a kitchen renovation so I had to deal with that.
I managed to finish something which I am showing here.It is not cross stitch and it is not something I usually stitch but loved the pattern and colours and want to frame it or make it into a cushion cover for the beach house. So here it is.

Edited: Oh yes! I wasn't a follower! That's why I didn't see all the previous blogposts. I will just go and visit everyone!

Lisa's update Friday 2nd October

Hi everyone!

So this Friday I went a bit overboard and stitched all day. I neglected everything else and to be honest can't say it worked out well. I felt like the whole weekend I was chasing my tail. But it was fun at the time!!

Before:

After:

Not sure how next week's update will go... I need to frog a major part of the ironwork detail (not seen in these photo's) and re-stitch because they are one stitch too low. I don't always frog mistakes, if I feel like they don't negatively impact the design I leave them in. This time I'm frogging because the ironwork is to match the other side and if I don't it will look lopsided.

Happy stitching everyone!
Lisa

No actual stitching but other finishes

I got stuck into finishing my knitting projects.... They were knitted last month but not finished til now....
I had to sew up 3 beanies. Sew in the ends on a feathers scarf and 9 dishcloths...
It kept me busy but they are now a finish....
3 kids beanies for the Xmas shoe boxes at the church
Another 9 lovely cotton dishcloths.. These are being added to my Xmas box

Blocking my dishcloths in my husbands great home made block.
So much for this footy GRAND FINAL WEEKEND. I'm loving finishing off some projects..

Re-Visiting A Neglected Project

I've finally gotten myself organised with one of my neglected projects, & spent a few hours last night working on it.
Back in 2012, I decided to make a Red Brolly Designs quilt, called 'The Polka Dot Girls Quilt'... it features a number of stitcheries, which are then pieced with fabrics to become a gorgeous finished quilt... well, I've dragged my feet on this project so badly, but I don't want to completely abandon it, despite my terribly slow progress!
During the week, I got it out yet again, & managed a little work on the block called 'Summer Stitching'... at the beginning of the night it looked like this

I was able to add her dress, apron & head scarf

Kaye, you're a clever girl, starting this blog & inspiring some of us to re-visit old projects, thanks!

Friday Night with Kitty!

Hi again!  I remembered to do the right thing last night and take a before and after pic of my Friday Night stitching....

So this week I have a new WIP to show you... I have changed pace this week and pulled out my "ABC Chats" from Les Brodeuses Parisiennes.

Kitty "B" looked like this before I started stitching on Friday night:

and this is what "B" looks like now:

Not a huge amount of progress... I was watching "Googlebox" on Foxtel while stitching and kept getting distracted!!  Love that show... what a concept... a TV show that is all about watching people watching TV!!!

That's it for this week... see you next week
Hugs, Noni xx
